67th ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

ECOB Engineering Awards 2026

Celebrating Excellence in Engineering & Innovation

The 67th Annual Engineering Council of Birmingham Awards Banquet was held February 24 at the Harbert Center in the heart of Birmingham. The evening celebrated excellence in engineering and reflected this year’s Engineers Week theme: Transform Your Future.

Outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Styslinger College of Engineering at The University of Alabama were recognized for their leadership and promise within the profession.

ECOB president Brinkley Wood announced the scholarship recipients and introduced the nominees and honorees for the Distinguished Service, Educator of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year, and Engineer of the Year awards.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt keynote address from Ralph A. Hargrove, President and CEO of Hargrove Engineers & Constructors. Having founded what would become the largest engineering firm in Alabama in the attic of his home, Hargrove’s journey exemplifies the spirit of transformation and the power of engineering to shape the future.
